Indian head massage
Developed in India and used extensively nation wide, Indian head massage has been increasing in popularity in the west.
Thought to have been developed by women in India, to keep their hair in good health and by stimulating the blood vessels in the scalp, Indian head massage is thought to produce profound feelings of relaxation and calm.
Practitioners using a vegetable oil, massage the oil into the head, scalp and shoulders using deep, and penetrative strokes, relaxing the muscles and stimulating the circulation of the scalp.
Practitioners believe that this encourages people to relax and let go of stress and also that the massage nourishes the follicles of the hair so that, hair begins to grow more healthily.
Treatments last between 30 to 45 mins and can be done lying down or sitting.

Iridology
Iridology looks at the condition of a persons’ iris to assess whether they have any disorders.
Practitioners do this by studying the condition, colour and markings of the iris to see where weaknesses within the body are.
Iridologists believe that the whole iris is divided up into segments and that these segments represent a part of the body, in some ways, not disimilar to reflexology.
By looking at the condition of a persons’ iris, a practitioner can tell where in the body they are having problems, where they have had problems and problems that might occur in the future.
Even though there have been many references to iridology in history, modern iridology was developed by a Hungarian doctor called Ignatz Von Peczely in the late 19TH century
He became interested in observing and recording disease from markings in the iris when, an owl Von Peczely was trying to release into the wild, as a small boy, accidentally broke its’ leg and he noticed that a black mark was appearing in the owls’ iris. As the owls’ leg healed and mended, the black spot turned white.
Von Peczely went on to become a doctor and developed research into the relationship of disease in the body and where on the iris the area corresponded.
The iridology map that modern iridologists use today was created in 1950 by Bernard Jensen, an American doctor.
An iridologist may examine a persons’ eyes with an ophthalmoscope, a magnifying lens or a torch and others may use a camera or take a video of your iris and play the image back at you.
Whatever they use, they will be looking at the fibres radiating from the pupil to see if any are broken or whether any marks stain the make-up of the iris – black marks are said to represent disease in the organ related to that part of the iris.
Practitioners maintain that they can detect toxins in the body, stress of a particular organ, a persons’ constitution ( as defined by the colour of their iris) and whether any inflammation exists within the body.
The treatment lasts for an hour and some eye watering may occur, especially if the practitioner uses a torch. You remain fully clothed and you will be presented with a detailed diagram of your iris and the diagnosis.
Iridology is a diagnostic tool and the practitioner may treat you with the therapy they are trained in or refer you to a specialist.
Many other complementary therapists such as homeopaths use iridology as an additional diagnostic tool.
Contra-indications.
Doctors are worried that people will either be given a false diagnosis or that, they will be told that there is no problem within their body and this could prevent the person from seeking medical help.
Therefore, doctors recommend that people also seek medical advice and diagnosis also.
Kinesiology
Kinesiology, literally the study of body movement is a holistic approach to balancing the movement and interaction of a persons’ energy systems. Gentle assessment of muscle response monitors those areas where blocks and imbalances are impairing physical, emotional or energetic well being. The same method can identify factors which may be contributing to such imbalances.
The bodys’ natural healing responses are stimulated by attention to reflex and acupressure points and by use of specific body movements and nutritional support. These can lead to increased physical, emotional and spiritual well-being.
Health kinesiology
Health kinesiology was developed by Dr. Jimmy Scott. His academic experience includes research at the national institute of mental health and positions at three university medical schools. He has published numerous research papers in scientific and medical journals.
He learnt kinesiology in the 1970’S and combined this with nutritional knowledge to produce a powerful concept in holistic health.
Combining nutritional knowledge with the techniques of kinesiology allowed dr. Scott to determine precisely and very specifically for each individual exactly what nutrients were needed, which supplements were best to use and what foods to eat or to avoid.
He developed his allergy concepts further, taking in other concepts of health such as pyschological applications.
He subsequently named the therapy health kinesiology.
He has a busy practice, writes magazine articles on health topics, has written books, lectures, teaches seminars on health kinesiology all over the world and is frequently on the television and radio
A practitioner in health kinesiology will ask your body questions (using a precise technique using muscles of the body ) and will ask your body what it needs to facilitate healing.
The practitioner treats the person holistically and will ask for a detailed history of you going back to childhood.
It is believed that all illness starts from within and that you have to go back within to facilitate healing.
The practioner finds out what is stressing your body, namely an allergy, thought pattern, a visual subject, a fear or a phobia and will gently strengthen the body in the face of the stress, phobia, fear or allergy so that it does not affect the individual again.
Dramatic changes occur in behaviour and body health which produces a profound change in an individual.
A session can range from an hour to two hours and the work is done on top of clothing.
