Colour therapy

Colour therapy of some kind has been around since the Egyptians, where by they used colour to symbolise gods and help people vibrate to the energy of the god via the colour.

Modern colour therapy is beginning to take off in this country and in the far east but it still is not widely known of.

Practitioners believe that each cell in the human body resonates to a particular frequency or vibration and that each colour also has its’ own frequency.

Practitioners believe that colours can be used to correct imbalances in a bodys’ vibrational pattern and restore the body to harmony.

Most people will agree that colours do affect our moods and influence the way we feel and colour therapists believe that they can also help our spiritual, emotional and physical needs.

Colour therapists work on chakra energies and within a persons’ subtle bodies. Some people who are sensitive to colours maintain that they can see colours surrounding their bodies and that the colours change as the energy vibration changes, some people call this the ‘aura’ or the persons ‘subtle bodies’and that the colours within the aura show the persons state of health. Some practitioners will` read’ the colours surrounding a person and decide which colours the person will need to bring them back into harmony.

Each chakra or subtle body vibrates to the frequency of a certain emotion, organ or colour and practitioners use methods to find out what colours are needed to keep the chakras and subtle bodies in balance

The treatment consists of a practitioner taking a medical history and will use a diagnostic technique to evaluate which colours you are lacking in and which colours you need to help the body to balance.

There are three main diagnostic techniques that practitioners use;-

The colour spine chart- is where the spine is divided into parts whereby each part will correspond to a different colour and area of the body. Practitioners may use kinesiology, dowsing or pendulums to ascertain imbalances in the system and appropriate treatment colours.

The second is the colour card reading – this is where you will be asked to pick three cards from a series of eight coloured cards. The state of health and well-being is assessed from the cards chosen and again leads the practitioner to find the right colours to treat you.

The third is the visual reading- the practitioner ‘sees’ which colour you need by reading your aura and subtle bodies.

The actual treatment involves either placing a colour or a coloured light onto the part of the body that needs it for a specific amount of time. A person may need to look at a colour for a particular time or be their whole body bathed in a particular colour or colours.

Coloured cloth may be placed over the body of the person or the person told to wear a particular colour for a period of time, such as a week for example.

Colours chosen will have been selected for their vibrational frequencies and resonances and their effects on the part of the body being treated.

Treatments last between an hour to an hour and a half and the practitioner may need to shine the colour directly onto the skin.

 Craniosacral therapy

Dr. John Upledger , an American osteopath developed this therapy at the university of Michigan in the 1970’S. He went further than osteopathy by asserting that cranial rhythmic impulse affects every cell in the body. He states that craniosacral therapy is soft tissue orientated, fluid orientated and membrane orientated rather than bone orientated like conventional osteopathy.

The therapy is based on corrective, gentle pressure being applied to the cranium and spine. It focuses on the membranes encasing the brain and spinal cord rather than just the bones of the cranium like conventional cranial osteopathy.

The cranial rhythmic impulse as stated above generates from the membranes of the cerebrospinal fluid, which practitioners believe affects the connective tissue of all organs, muscles and bones of the body. Practitioners try to bring about an even, rhythmic flow of cranial rhythmic impulses in the body.

Treatments last about an hour and generally more than one treatment is needed to correct a condition.

The treatment is done fully clothed on a treatment table, though if a person suffers from a disability, then it can be done on the floor or a bed.

The practitioner applies slight pressure on the head or sacrum (lower back) whilst you lie still.

A sense of deep relaxation can ensue and it can also unlock deep emotional and pyschological problems.

As with most therapies, please consult a doctor first before starting treatment or if symptoms persist, then please consult a fully qualified medical practitioner.

Crystal therapy

Throughout the ages , many different cultures have cherished and valued the therapeutic qualities of crystals and other semi-precious gems.

Crystals are believed to hold healing life energy within them, acting like batteries storing and releasing energy when needed.

Many healers use crystals to treat all kinds of physical and emotional symptoms.

Each crystal has a unique energy and will be used to heal a different ailment by harnessing the healing energy stored within each crystal.

Crystals have become quite fashionable now and many people have them in their homes or wear them as some form of jewellery.

Crystal healers treat the whole person and take a full consultation to find out what crystals you need to heal yourself.

Practitioners may place them on the area to be healed or hold them in their hands while healing. They may place them on the treatment couch, channeling energy into you or away from you depending on what way they are placed. They can also be placed on acupuncture or chakra sites on the body.

You may be required to wear a crystal to facilitate healing on your body or place one in your room.

Treatment is usually done fully clothed and the crystals are placed on top of your clothing.

Treatments can vary from half an hour to one and a half hours.
